Our story, our people
Growing up between the orchards, joining his father to the fruit auction in Zeeland, working in the fruit warehouse during the weekends and even working at a green beans startup in France during the holidays. Jacco van Paasschen got familiar with every step in the growing & harvesting process before he started working commercially in fruit business.
With this knowledge and his high esteem of values such as respect, reliability, flexibility and transparency he started Fruit Freshi together with the Jansen family. According to Jacco these values are quite essential in maintaining a healthy relationship. So why not pursue this in our daily work?
At Fruit Freshi these terms are more than just buzzwords. ‘Yeah, right. Just like any other company says.’ Indeed, but let us explain and you can only agree with us. You’ll see.
Respect is highly valued within Fruit Freshi. We believe the best commercial solutions in fruits and vegetables arise with respect and a close relationship with nature, our growers, suppliers and colleagues. We can hear you think; ‘Sounds good, but how do you achieve this?’. Let us tell you how.
- Knowledge & Experience; From growing & harvesting till all following logistics to final consumer. We’ve been there, done that. Literally. So when we say we know what we’re talking about, we know for sure.
- Reliability; A deal’s a deal. When you have our word, you can set your mind at ease.
- Transparency; Because of our short supply chain we are flexible. In this way we can adapt rapidly to all needs and don’t add unnecessary costs.
- Sustainability; We aim for the long-term. Not only in our relationships but also for the purpose of our planet. As a company we support CO2 reduction and compensation. But we also think along with, for example, innovative packaging.
Freshi House
All these elements came together in Q2 2023 with the completion of Freshi House. Our new BREEAM outstanding certified building which covers 10.000m2. With the commissioning of Freshi House, we’re right on top of our business. Literally. Storage, Packing and Cross-docking… Everything in-house. It comes naturally to us!

Fruit Freshi, part of Jansen-Dongen Group
In 1965 the 1st generation Jansen family started growing and trading fruits. Later on the focus changed from fruits to potatoes, onions and carrots. But as blood is thicker than water, the 2nd generation wanted to start focusing on fruit again.
Together with Jacco van Paaschen, with 20+ years of experience in connecting fruit growers with final (retail) customers, they founded Fruit Freshi in Januari 2022. That’s how we became part of the Jansen-Dongen Group.
